OES-10 Alpha

The students selected the Yuogoslavian Red Butterhead Lettuce from Hertitage Harvest Seed company, non-GMO, heirloom seeds.  Students soaked the rock wool, wash the trays, and set up one of the manipulated variables, by using a different amount of seeds for each rock wool cube.  Each tower has 28 baskets (4x7 stackable tower segments). 

8 cubes with 8 seeds, then covered in Vermiculite
8 cubes with 10 seeds, then covered in Vermiculite
12 cubes with 12 seeds, then covered in Vermiculite

 3/4" of distilled water in the bottom of each germination tray.

A 54W grow lite was placed 20" above the germination tray with a setting of 10pm to 8am.

We are trying to determine which number of seeds is the most productive.

Students soaked the rock wool, wash the trays, and set up one of the manipulated variables, by using a different amount of seeds for each rock wool cube. Each tower has 28 baskets (4x7 stackable tower segments).

11 cubes with 12 seeds, then covered in Vermiculite

The students selected Arugula from Hertitage Harvest Seed company, non-GMO, heirloom seeds. Students soaked the rock wool, wash the trays, and set up one of the manipulated variables, by using a different amount of seeds for each rock wool cube. Each tower has 28 baskets (4x7 stackable tower segments).

4 cubes with 8 seeds, then covered in Vermiculite
4 cubes with 10 seeds, then covered in Vermiculite
4 cubes with 12 seeds, then covered in Vermiculite
4 cubes of kale with 12 seeds
4 cubes of kale with 8 seeds
4 cubes of lettuce with 12 seeds and 4 cubes of lettuce with 8 seeds

Unfortunately, an error was made and  4 cubes of kale and 4 cubes of lettuce were seeded instead of Arugula.
